Alcohol
The Titjikala Community is a ‘dry’ community
where alcohol cannot be consumed by local people.
The Deluxe Safari Tent site is 1km from the Community
Centre and pre-purchased alcohol can be consumed by
our guests but only in moderation as a respectful
gesture and must only be consumed within range of
the tents.
Clause
Gunya Titjikala is a Joint Venture between the traditional
Aboriginal Titjikala Community and Gunya Tourism.
Due to this local culture is extremely important to
us and does take high priority. As we only use local
Indigenous labour apart from our Project Managers
& Chef the advertised product can be affected
for numerous cultural reasons including a local death
where the Community can vacate the area for up to
4 days during the funeral period. During this time
you will receive full service by our Project Managers
& Chef but Traditional Owners, Artists, Witch
Doctors and Medicine men may not be available during
this time.
Gunya Titjikala is located on the fringe of the Simpson
Desert and is exposed to extreme weather conditions
– including floods. Tours may need to be cancelled
unexpectedly due to poor road conditions as the road
to Gunya Titjikala is unsealed and is only suitable
for 4WD vehicles.
The deluxe safari tents are not air-conditioned and
do not have electricity/power.
Insects are present in the area and include grass
hoppers, flies and mosquito’s – appropriate
clothing and repellant should be used to ensure your
stay remains comfortable.
